Hi, I’m Katherine Messina, founder of Prose Perfect. I’m an author, editor, and publishing professional with a passion for helping writers tell their stories with clarity, confidence, and heart.

Through Prose Perfect, I offer developmental editing, line editing, and author support tailored to your goals. I created this space to be collaborative, encouraging, and results-driven, because I know how important your words are.

When I’m not editing or writing, I’m spending time with my four kids, enjoying a good book, or working on my own stories. I believe in prose that connects and stories that stay with you.

Anca (Personal Assistant)

Hi, I’m Anca, the personal assistant for our Prose Perfect authors. I’m a personal assistant and blogger with over seven years of experience in the industry.

Through Prose Perfect, I aspire to develop strong relationships with writers and to give curious, warm feedback full of contagious excitement. I’m proud to be an ally to authors and I am on a personal mission to spark a lifelong love of reading by leaving encouraging notes for my authors.

Amanda Van Dahm (Editor)

Hi, I’m Amanda, one of the Prose Perfect editors.

Through Prose Perfect, I aim to share my passion for reading and to get lost in the worlds that our authors create.

When I’m not editing, reading, or writing, I’m spending time with my spouse, hanging out with my son, or working as a corrections officer.

Emily Holman (Fiction Editor)

Hi, I’m Emily, one of the Prose Perfect editors. I’m an author with over 50+ publications and several years of experience editing in a variety of genres. I love poetry and horror, but I’m always ready to fall in love with a new story.

Through Prose Perfect, I aim to share my passion and help authors share the stories that are important to them.

When I’m not working, I enjoy listening to podcasts and painting. I’m always down to give (or receive!) a recommendation

Kenna (Editor)

Hi, I’m Kenna, one of the Prose Perfect editors. I’m a creative writer and English literature lover.

Through Prose Perfect, I aspire to work with authors to help shape their stories and ensure that they end up with a product they can be proud of. I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and love to see disability representation in the books I read, edit, and support.

When I’m not working, I’m living my life surrounded by good music (Hozier and Taylor Swift, anyone?) and doing my best to be the “Ray of Sunshine” that the other members of the Prose Perfect team accuse me of being.

Chloe (Editor)

Hi, I’m Chloe, one of the Prose Perfect editors. I specialize in copyediting and proofreading, which means I often get to see our books in their most final states. (Lucky me!)

Through Prose Perfect, I work to build our authors up and help their stories so that they’re as polished and impactful as they can be by the time they’re officially publication ready.

When I’m not working, you can find me outside. I love animals and the outdoors, because there’s something incredible about being surrounded by nature

Rowan Thiesen (Editor and Consultant)

Hi, I’m Ro, one of the Prose Perfect editors and the resident consultant. I’m also responsible for website upkeep, so if you notice anything that need attention, let me know!. I specialize in developmental editing consulting is one of my favourite parts of the publishing industry. I’ve been a ghostwriter and editor for over 15 years, and my debut novel just came out in August of 2025!

Through Prose Perfect, my goal is to help build writers’ confidence, make their stories sing, and take a little bit of the uncertainty out of the industry. Imposter syndrome is real and I consider it a blessing to help my authors overcome it. As a (dis)abled person and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I look for writers who have diverse characters and stories to share.

When I’m not working, you’l probably find me writing. I know that seems like a cop out, but it’s true. I really do write like I’m running out of time.
